Questions coaches usually ask
- Does my director see what I said in my sessions?
- If you coach at an academy on Coach Sidekick, yes: directors see your recorded sessions, the feedback you approved, and the coaching analytics derived from them (attention distribution, feedback-type patterns, session cadence). That's intentional: directors can't develop their staff if they can't see what their staff is doing. They do not see audio you chose not to record, feedback you removed before approval, or notes you keep private. If you're a solo coach on the Starter plan, none of this applies: there's no director in the system.
- What if the AI attributes a piece of feedback to the wrong player?
- You review every session before anything reaches a player. Edit the attribution, reassign a cue to a different player, or remove it entirely. Nothing gets released until you approve it. The attribution works well in most cases; when it doesn't, the review step is the safety net. We'd rather be transparent about that than pretend the AI is perfect.
- Can I keep private conversations off the record?
- Yes: by not hitting record. Coach Sidekick only captures audio from sessions you explicitly record. There's no retroactive privacy filter: if you recorded it, it went through the pipeline. For sensitive conversations (discipline, player health, personal matters), pause recording or don't record. The clearest mental model: if you pressed record, assume it will be reviewed.
- How long does processing take after I stop recording?
- Most sessions are ready for your review in under 15 minutes, including transcription, player attribution, and feedback categorization. Longer sessions (60+ minutes) or heavy background noise can push that to 30 minutes. The session shows its processing status live, and it lands in your review queue the moment it's ready.
- Do I need a special microphone, or is my phone enough?
- Your phone works. A clip-on lav mic helps outdoors where wind is a factor, but a modern phone in your pocket or on the sideline captures enough clean audio for accurate attribution. Start with your phone; upgrade gear only if you find you need to.
