Sport-coaching research consistently finds that coaches systematically mis-perceive their own behaviour: what we plan to teach diverges from what observation shows we actually say (Partington & Cushion, 2013; Cushion, Ford & Williams, 2012). Coaches rarely see data on their own patterns. You finish a session, pack up the cones, and move on. Coach Sidekick shows you how you distribute attention, which feedback types you lean on, and where to adjust before the next one.
Getting better shouldn't require someone watching over your shoulder.
Formal evaluation is rare and awkward, so most coaches never get it. The Debrief is automatic: a reflection generated from your own recorded sessions — a mirror, not a grade filed against you. Your director sees the same mirror you do, so nothing is said about your coaching that you can't see yourself.

Questions coaches ask about their own data
- Does my director see my Session Debrief?
- At a club, yes — directors can open the same Debrief you see, read-only. It shows them exactly what it shows you: who you reached, how you coached, and how the session tracked against your plan. They can't edit anything, can't see your plans before a session happens, and can't rank coaches against each other — for them it's the same mirror, never a scorecard. Your Debrief banner always states who can see it, and clubs can turn director visibility off. If you coach solo on the Starter plan, there's no director in the system at all.
- Is this used to rank or grade me against other coaches?
- No. The Debrief is built as a mirror, not a grade. There's no score, no ranking against other coaches, and no leaderboard. It surfaces patterns so you can adjust before your next session. That's the entire purpose.
- What do the analytics and Debrief actually measure?
- Coaching analytics and “Who you reached” derive from the feedback you approved for players. Your private “How you coached” lens can still reflect every coaching moment captured in the session, including moments you chose not to release. That separation keeps you in control of player delivery without throwing away useful material for your own reflection. Nothing comes from a session you didn't record.
- Will it tell me I'm coaching wrong?
- No. It shows you the patterns and offers suggestions before your next session, but it won't script your practice or hand you a verdict. You're the coach. The Debrief just makes sure you're working from what actually happened, not from what you remember happening.
