A coach records practice and coaches as usual. Coach Sidekick works out who each comment was for, keeps the coach's exact words with it, and holds every note until the coach has checked it.

Coaches talk to players by name, to groups, and to everyone at once. Every name on the roster is listened for, each comment goes to whoever it was said to, and comments to the group stay with the group.

The coach checks every note first.

Each note waits in the coach's review with the words it came from and the moment they were said. The coach can approve it, edit it, give it to a different player or to the team, or remove it. Notes the system is less sure how to label are marked for a second look.

Nothing reaches a player or a family until the coach releases it.

When the coach prepares what goes out, each player gets up to three drills from a library of over 350, matched to what the coach's notes were about, each with the points to focus on.

Why it was picked

It trains the skill you named, and its own coaching cues include “Use your body!” and “Shield it.”

What to focus on

Bend your knees and get low.
Keep the ball on the foot furthest from the defender.
Forearm out to feel the defender. A sensor, not a weapon.

Then it goes home.

Parents and guardians hear from the Family Hub: the session recap, what the coach said to their child, and the drills to practise, on the web or in the iPhone app. Players 13 and over can get their own email.

When a player's date of birth shows they are under 13, nothing from the session is transcribed or analyzed until their parent's consent is recorded. How we handle young players' data.

What if it picks the wrong player?: The coach moves the note to the right player, or to the team, in review. Every note shows the words it came from, so a wrong guess is easy to spot.
What happens to comments to the whole group?: They stay with the team. They are never sent to one player as if they had been said to them.
Does every note come with a drill?: No. Each player gets up to three drills, matched to what the coach's notes to them were about. If nothing in the library fits, none is sent.
Is anything sent automatically?: No. The coach approves the notes, prepares what goes out and releases it. Nothing leaves on its own.
