For parents & families

Finally see what's really happening on the field.

You invest thousands in your child's development. Coach Sidekick gives you real visibility into their progression: what coaches are working on, how your child is improving, and what they're doing to grow as athletes and people.

We drive to every session but have no idea what actually happened.

Our kid says "it was fine." The coach is busy packing up. We're left guessing whether the investment is paying off. Coach Sidekick changes that.

We want to support development, but we don't know what they're working on.

Without knowing what coaches are focused on, it's hard to help kids practice the right things between sessions. Coach Sidekick shows you exactly where the focus is.

We're paying for coaching, not just field time.

U.S. families now spend ~$1,500 a year on one child's primary sport, up 46% in five years (Aspen Project Play, 2025), yet 36% of kids still quit mainly because it stopped being fun (Project Play, 2019). Coach Sidekick shows you what the investment actually bought: per session, per cue, per player.

Development Visibility

See what coaches are actually working on with your child.

After every recorded session, your child gets a personalized feedback digest. You see what coaches noticed, what the focus areas are, and how that connects to their overall development.

How it works

Nothing changes for you. Everything changes for your family.

01

Coaches record sessions

During practice or matches, coaches record audio on their phone. Nothing changes for you or your child on the field.

02

Your child gets personalized feedback

After the coach reviews and approves, your child receives a breakdown of what the coach noticed about them specifically, with drills to work on.

03

You see real development

As a family, you see feedback trends, drill progress, and development over time. Real insight into what your investment is producing.

Built by a father and education researcher who believes every player deserves to know what their coach sees in them.

Coach Sidekick was co-founded by Andrew Katz, Ph.D., an education researcher who studies how people learn and develop. He built this because families deserve more than guesswork.

Questions parents usually ask

Will I see other kids' feedback?
No. Coach Sidekick is private by design: each player's development summary is visible only to that player and their parents or guardians, never to other families. There is no shared parent feed, no leaderboard, and no “how does my kid rank” view.
How is my child's data protected?
Protecting minors' data is a first-class priority. Audio and transcripts are encrypted in transit, and our infrastructure providers encrypt stored data at rest. From the Family Hub, parents can review everything collected about their child, see the full consent history, withdraw consent, and request deletion of their child's data at any time. We are completing the rest of our youth-privacy program: verifiable parental consent for players under 13, defined data-retention limits, and access controls, in consultation with legal counsel who specialize in children's-data compliance. Our formal privacy policy will be published here before those capabilities are generally available. If you have questions in the meantime, contact us or your academy director.
What ages is this appropriate for?
Coach Sidekick is built for youth soccer academies, which typically means ages 7 through 18. For players under 13, our policy is to obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting their information, consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you have a specific question about your child's age or program, your academy director will know exactly how Coach Sidekick is deployed at their club.
How do I get access for my family?
Through your child's academy. Coach Sidekick isn't something families subscribe to directly: it's a tool your academy provides. If your academy doesn't currently use Coach Sidekick, the fastest way to get it is to forward this page to your director. We've included a one-click option at the bottom of this page.
My child is a teenager and may not want me reading everything. How does that work?
That's worth a direct conversation with your child. Family access to your child's summaries is provided through your academy, and the summaries exist because families benefit from visibility into what's being worked on. If you and your teenager prefer a different arrangement, the academy can configure access accordingly. We design for healthy family dynamics, not surveillance.
